Day 1 - 18 SEP (WED) - ARRIVE NAPLES, ITALY - SORRENTO Your Tour Director will greet you at the Naples rail station to begin your custom tour,The first stop is the Royal Palace of Caserta with a visit to Royal Apartments, Royal Park and English Garden. After our time at Caserta we will continue on to your Sorrento hotel. This evening enjoy a welcome dinner at a popular Agriturismo (D) Day 2 - 19 SEP (THU) - SORRENTO Take a morning orientation walk in the old town with a local guide, then his afternoon learn to prepare authentic Italian cuisine with a cooking class for lunch.The balance of your day is at your leisure (B,L) Day 3 - 20 SEP (FRI) - SORRENTO. EXCURSION TO CAPRI Discover the jewel of the Mediterranean on this wonderful full-day excursion to the legendary isle of Capri, a popular resort since Roman times! Your adventure begins with a scenic crossing to the island, where your expert guide greets you warmly and gives you a proper introduction to the towns of Capri and Anacapri. Visit the lovely, terraced Gardens of Augustus overlooking the glistening blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea below, then ride the chair lift to the top of Monte Solaro, weather permitting. Enjoy free time to shop before returning to Sorrento for an evening at leisure (B) Day 4 - 21 SEP (SAT) - SORRENTO. EXCURSION TO POSITANO AND RAVELLO The most thrilling drive in Europe awaits as you depart early to travel along the famed Amalfi Coast for breathtaking panoramas and a visit to charming Positano. In Positano marvel at the brightly painted buildings and flowering gardens clinging to the cliff side in this pretty village seen in "Under the Tuscan Sun" From the Piazza dei Mulini, explore the city center as you like-walk along the enchanting beach: stroll along the steep and narrow lanes lined with boutiques, galleries, and decadent pastry shops; or maybe take a peek inside the magnificent Church of Santa Maria Assunta with its green and yellow majolica tile dome and legend-shrouded Black Madonna. In Ravello, enjoy a group lunch and then visit Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo before returning to Sorrento for an evening of your own. (B,L) Day 5 - 22 SEP (SUN) - SORRENTO. EXCURSION TO POMPEI and FERRY TO PALERMO Travel to Pompeii to enjoy a guided walking tour of the excavations, then on to Naples, for a pizza dinner before you board your overnight ferry to Palermo. (B,D) Day 6 - 23 SEP (MON) - PALERMO Arrive by ferry in Palermo and board your coach to the hotel for breakfast. We will take a scenic drive to Monreale for a panoramic view of the Conca d’Oro. Visit Speciale Raffadali Palace and then the Capo Market for free time to explore. This evening enjoy a delicious 3-course dinner at a typical Sicilian restaurant for fine seafood (B,D) Day 7 - 24 SEP (TUE) - PALERMO. EXCURSION TO CEFALU AND TRABIA Travel to the coastal town of Cefalù with its medieval squares, streets and churches During your visit see the Norman cathedral, a 12th century fortress like structure with elaborate Byzantine mosaics and soaring twin towers Stop in Trabia for free time (a very small quaint town where the PIazza family came to America from) Return to Palermo for an evening at leisure. Day 8 - 25 SEP (WED) - PALERMO - AGRIGENTO - CATANIA - TAORMINA We're off to Agrigento take a guided walking tour of the Valley of Temples then we will continue to Catania for late afternoon walking food tour to taste local specialities. Arrive at your hotel for an evening at your leisure (B,D, food tour) Day 9 - 26 SEP (THU) - TAORMINA Enjoy a full day at your leisure, Your tour guide will be happy to recommend ideas for you if you like. (B) DAY 10 - 28 SEP (SAT) - TAORMINA. EXCURSION TO MOUNT ETNA Travel to Mount Etna to come face to face with Europe’s tallest active stratovolcano. Led by an expert guide, drive through scenic orchards, vineyards, and forests to towering 10,922-foot (3,329-meter) Mount Etna, whose activity spans at least 500,000 years. From a panoramic viewing point at 6,500 feet, observe the craters, cones, and lava flows that dot the surrounding landscape. We will enjoy a tour and tasting at a local winery and afterward celebrate the success of your tour with a farewell dinner in the vineyard. (B,D) Day 11 - 27 SEP (FRI) - TAORMINA. EXCURSION TO SAVOCA AND FORZA D'AGRO Spend your morning at leisure then off to a stop in Taormina to shop and have lunch on your own. Travel to Savoca for a walking tour of the medieval village. Enjoy a granita (semi-frozen drink) and a brioche tasting at Bar Vitelli, a favorite location for movie fans of The Godfather saga. See the church of Santa Lucia where the wedding was celebrated.
